This exhibition displays deeply personal works informed by the life experiences of this husband-and-wife team who share close studio quarters in Jacksonville’s CoRK Arts District. Double Feature at CoRK Arts District this Saturday!

We have two great shows opening this Saturday, November 16th at 6 pm!

In CoRK West Gallery, the works of femme artists Lucy Clark, Caroline S. Daley, Christina Foard and Sharla Valeski.

In Cork North Gallery, Eden is Far features a selections of new drawings and paintings by Franklin Matthews.

"femme deux" is the second annual art exhibition where designer/artist Sharla Valeski selects women of notable talent to exhibit works of art in the West Gallery of the CoRK Arts District. This years line-up is Lucy Clark, Christina Foard, Caroline Daley and Sharla Valeski. Imagine a Georgia O’Keeffe painting in the the form of a burnished black vessel. This is what comes to mind when you see the creations of Lucy Clark. Each hand-built vessel is fired in sawdust using the Pueblo style method and burnished (polished) with a small quartz stone. Christina Foard’s paintings can be highly physical. By pouring, spraying, sanding, scraping and carving paint at various stages and drying times, she tells her stories without words. Her contribution to "femme deux" will be both large and small works on canvas and board. Caroline Daley has developed a distinct visual language through tactile layering and extreme embellishments. In the “femme deux", Ms Daley takes what she has learned making jewelry and precious assemblages and applies it to the 2-D canvas. Sharla Valeski presents her ink, watercolor and graphite drawings along-side her large-scale sculpture forms. She admittedly works in different mediums to keep the ideas fresh. As always, she strives to create exhibitions of art that are both thought-provoking and fun.

Eden is Far features a selection of drawings and paintings by Franklin Matthews in CoRK North Gallery.
